In 1975, when the Council of Ministers launched a ten-year program for the reconstruction of the Budapest tramway, for such reasons, among others, it seriously considered the possibility of purchasing trams within the framework of the KMST instead of the domestic industry. In this case, the only serious manufacturer that could be considered was the CKD factory in Prague. By this time, the Tátra factory had become the largest tram manufacturer in the world, so the maturity and cheapness of its designs were a significant advantage (Ganz was able to produce trams at a specific price one and a half times higher).</p>
